I've read all of the forum posts and web pages dedicated to this topic, but my problem seems different from everyone else's and I can't figure out how to forward ports because Quest's stupid modem is much too user friendly.

I'm running Windows XP Professional w/ SP2. A hard drive of mine recently kicked the bucket, and I'd been having trouble diagnosing the problem for a couple of days. During the process, I formatted and reinstalled Windows on the bad drive. I was able to install my system board drivers and Ares (among other programs and with many BSODs) and for that small window Ares worked properly. Connected and everything.
After switching up my drives and realizing that my issues were hardware related I once again installed XP on the new drive, along with drivers and programs including Ares. After that didn't work I installed KCeasy. With both of these programs, it will display web pages. There are no errors. But I am unable to perform searches and neither program will connect me to the Ares network. With KCeasy I was able to connect with Gnutella and OpenFT just fine, but not with Ares.
I've read over and over again that I should forward my ports. I think I've got the idea down pretty well, but the thing is, when I type my ip address in my web browser window, I can't figure out where to do all of this. I'm using Quest with a Motorola modem, and even in Advanced Setup there were no 'port forwarding' options.
I'm pretty stumped. When I installed on the bad hard drive, it worked just fine. What did I do differently? How do I fix this? Where do I forward ports? Any help's greatly appreciated.

I forgot to mention, the only firewall I have in the Windows firewall, and both programs are set as exceptions.
